- Register for an e-citizen account, if you do not already have one
- Read the instructions carefully then fill online application
- Scan and upload required documents
- Pay prescribed fee
- Book appointment
- Print the duly completed application form and two invoices
- Attach copies of required documents
- Submission and bio-metrics (on the appointment date)

An Emergency Travel Document is a one-way travel document issued to Kenyan citizens to enable them travel to Kenya in lieu of a Kenya passport.
Things to Note
- Incomplete applications will not be processed and will be rejected.
- It is recommended that you apply for your emergency travel document not earlier than two weeks to your travel date.
- An applicant needs to provide a confirmed travel booking.
- Persons who hold other nationality passports (Dual Nationals) are NOT ELIGIBLE for emergency travel documents.
Requirements in the case of a lost or damaged passport
- Duly filled application form.
- Police report on the loss of passport (translated to English and authenticated).
- A Sworn Affidavit done before a Commissioner of Oaths explaining the circumstances under which the Passport got lost or mutilated (translated to English and authenticated).
- Copy of lost passport or original of any previously held.
- The damaged passport (and a copy) for those replacing a mutilated one.
- Original Kenya National ID card and a copy.
- Copy of birth certificate (showing names of parents).
- Copies of Kenyan National ID of parents.
- Two recent passport photographs (coloured).
- Additional documents for proof of Kenya citizenship may be required if necessary.
- Payment of application fees.

From January 2024, authentication of documents issued in Kenya should be done online at https://mfa.ecitizen.go.ke
Apply online for authentication/legalization of:
- -Police clearance certificates
- -Birth and death certificates
- -Marriage certificates
- -Academic certificates
- -Notarized documents
How to apply:

- Read the instructions carefully then fill online application
- Pay prescribed fee
- Download invoices and fingerprint form
- Have your fingerprints taken at the Embassy/Nearest Police Station/ as indicated in the portal
- Submit to the Embassy: Fingerprints, original and copy of Passport and National ID, invoice
This is a certificate issued by the Office of the Registrar of Marriages confirming that a Kenyan national has no existing marriage record and therefore qualifies to get married outside of the country.

ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS READY FOR ATTACHING/ UPLOADING:
- Applicant’s certified copy of Passport
- Applicant’s certified copy of Birth Certificate (ENSURE THAT THE NAMES APPEARING ON THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND NATIONAL IDENTITY CARD/ PASSPORT ARE PROPERLY ALIGNED- NAMES SHOULD BE THE SAME AND APPEAR IN THE CORRECT ORDER);
- Coloured passport-size photos – one each
- Certified copy of your fiancée’s passport
- Copy of Death Certificate (if widow or widower)
- Copy of Divorce Decree Absolute (If the partner had been married before and divorced
- Sworn affidavit if the Death Certificate or Divorce Decree is more than two (2) years.
Note: Do not indicate your marital status on the application form as Single. Enter either Spinster, Bachelor, Widowed or Divorced
Upon approval, the applicant will be notified the amount/fee to pay on the online platform.
