In a landmark moment for regional connectivity and bilateral cooperation, TAAG Angola Airlines commenced direct passenger flights between Luanda and Nairobi on 1st September 2025, marking a significant step toward enhanced diplomatic, commercial, and cultural ties between Angola and Kenya.

H.E. Joyce M’maitsi, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to the Republic of Angola, accompanied the inaugural delegation from Luanda. In attendance at the welcome ceremony were senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, the Ministry of Transport, Kenya Airports Authority and Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, the Embassy of the Republic of Angola in Nairobi and media representatives. Officials from Kenya and Angola delivered speeches and participated in media interviews.

The new Luanda–Nairobi route, operating three times a week, opens a strategic route between Southern and Eastern Africa. The connection is expected to boost bilateral trade, promote tourism, and provide travellers with greater access to regional and global markets.

This connection represents a major boost to intra-African air connectivity, leveraging regional integration and greater intercontinental connectivity from both the Luanda and Nairobi hubs, linking Africa with Asia, the Americas and Europe.
