Africa Day Celebration 2021

Today Ambassador Josphat K.Maikara, MBS in his capacity as Dean of the African Group of Ambassadors at the 2021 #Africaday celebrations, espoused the need to tap into Africa’s heritage and cultural diversity as a catalyst for socio-economic development and integration of the African continent.

The celebrations were held at the Diplomatic Academy of Angola and the chief guest was H.E. Domingos Vieira Lopes, Secretary of State for International Cooperation representing H.E. Téte António, Minister for External Relations of Angola.

In addition, the African Group of Ambassadors donated Kwanzas 3,271,000.00 to the campaign “Abraço Solidário, Somos Angola” towards humanitarian assistance to victims affected by the drought in southern Angola.

Lecture at Augustinho Neto University

This afternoon (23rd July 2018), the Cabinet Secretary Amb. Monica Juma DPhil, CBS delivered a Public Lecture at the Dr. Antonio Agustinho Neto University entitled “Claiming the Future of Africa.”

In the lecture the CS underscored the pragmatic need for sustained Peace and Security; Governance and Leadership, Continental Economics, Research and Development and Security of Intellectual Property as imperatives, if the young people of Africa have to claim the bright future of Continent.

She further urged African Governments to remain focused on the plight of the African youth, the main catalysts of change and to whom the future of Africa belongs.

The CS was received at the University by Her Excellency Prof. Maria Sambo the Minister for Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation of the Republic of Angola.

The lecture was attended by Former Prime Minister of Angola, The Minister of State Foreign Affairs, The Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law of the Augustinho Net University, other Government officials, Senior University officials, Foreign Ambassadors and students among others.


Cabinet Secretary Amb. Monica Juma visited the National Museum of the Armed Forces of Angola (Museu Nacional de Historia Militiar) located in Luanda on 23rd July 2018.
The CS was taken through the historical struggle of the Angolan people since the rule of Queen Nzinga who was a leading figure in the unification of the people of Angola.
The Museum pays homage to the history of the independent forces of Angola.

CS hosts African Group of Ambassadors

Cabinet Secretary Amb. Monica Juma today (22nd July, 2018) evening hosted the African Group of Ambassadors to a reception during which she addressed them on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

In her address she underscored the role of the AfCFTA in delivering Agenda 2063. She urged the ambassadors to play their role in placing the African Agenda at the core of their work and draw from the resolve of the African fore fathers, to secure the future of the continent.
